Day 56/57

THURSDAY/FRIDAY

Thursday was slow.

Friday was rocket speed.

Thursday was possibilities.

Friday was practicalities.

Thursday was a phone interview.

Friday was a job offer.

Thursday was looking at a lazy summer.

Friday is staring at full time work.

Thursday is excited about possibilities.

Friday is terrified at the prospect of a 'real job' & what that means.

DEAR DIARY:

On Thursday I didn't do much. It was nice.. I was feeling kind of crummy so sleeping in automatically improved the day. Got Boost.. that was about it. Then I got a phone call from the guy at the place for that copy job? Yep. My descriptions are ace, no?

But anyway.

He called, asked lots of questions, I talked a bit, he talked a lot, he asked me about holidays, avaliabilities, uni, part time work, and then we decided I'd go for a face to face interview the next morning at 9am :o

Terrifying.

He was talking like I already had the job & because I know he hasn't advertised this anywhere except through Andy (the careers dude at I.D.S) there were no people to compete with for the position...... scary.

So Ev & I went shopping for a shirt so I had something to wear..

 

Ev: "Why don't you have a shirt? What do you wear to weddings?"

Me: "Um.. a dress? Because I'm a girl."

Had smallies which was fun, pretty laid back.

Thanks to Ros for the wardrobe-raiding time :) we're cool.

Next week is Hamish's birthday, it's a big one so I want to get him a present or something but I don't know what.... hmmm.

Same night went out with Jess & Charm, probably shouldn't have but it turned out to be pretty fun if not insanely tiring. I'm an idiot. I really should have slept so I was totally awake for my interview.. got some good photos though. Check the facebook for those.

Got to sleep by 2.30.

Friday morning I was up at 6.15(ish) showered, dressed....... was late.

Oops.

Missed the 7.48 train by about 30 seconds :(

So caught the normal train, was about 3 minutes late for my interview, but it was fine coz he knew I was on public transport & he was doing something anyway.

Went to the cafe across the road from their shop, I got tea :) YUM. I hadn't had breakfast so it was good.. tried not to look too eager to drink it even though I was dying to just inhale it.. i love tea.

Anyway.

We talked for about an hour, and he offered me the job..

Obviously, I accepted.

We went back to the store & I met his wife & the 3 other guys that work there.. he showed me around.. gave me some stuff to read.. blah blah.................

I HAVE A JOB!!!!!!!!

i'm so scared.

went to uni after, then home, then i lay in bed like a zombie for about an hour before work.

which was BUSY!? weird.

to be completely honest, the only thing i'm really excited about job-wise is that i have to wear corporate kind of business gear. means shopping & a whole new style to explore...... i'm such a girl.

and this is corporate portraiture, apparently.

Day 55

Day 54

What exactly does it mean to 'make something of yourself?'

Or to 'do something with your life?'

I think that it's about living my life in a way that glorifies Christ, being content with what I have but open to new opportunities when they arise, balancing having fun and going out/going crazy with life responsibilities, (like work/church etc) and maintaining healthy and stable relationships with my family and friends.

I think if I can achieve that in life, then i'm 'doing something' with it - even if I never get famous, marry a rockstar, get rich, get my 'dream job' or see the whole world. (those things would be nice though! haha..)

Uni was boring today, but working with Thida was nice, haven't seen her for ages!

I applied for a full time position at a copy centre in the city :s eeek!

If I get it, my summer plans will probably change.. but I guess I'll cross that bridge if/when I get to it.

This week is going really fast, but it's like nothing is really happening.... hmmmm.

i was sick all day today though. 

CRAP.

BUT i had a realllllly good mango.

Kudos to Coles for selling me a super awesome mango.

& to Zenaida for telling me where the plastic knives were.. haha!

MONDAY

Day 50

Friday sucked. Slept in, felt crap, didn't know why, didn't go to uni. Listened to a preview of Pink's new album on the radio and, surprisingly enough, i loved it. Decided to go buy it with my JB voucher tomorrow. Showered. Rode my bike to church. Felt somewhat active and healthy. Helped out in the church office for the day so I didn't dwell too much in the suckiness. Had lunch with Mum. Worked. That is all.

Day 49

I'M REALLY EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I applied for volunteer work at Pyramid Rock this year, meaning I get a free pass to the festival, just have to do like, 8 hours work.. easy. Got a call today, myself, Jakob & Hurley all got shifts! 

SWEET!!!!

But wait.... 

Now it's like, ohhhh crap. 

Coz I leave for beach mission for 2 (full on) weeks on the 2nd of January.. Pyramid goes from the 28th til the 1st of January.. So I'll miss truck packing.. have to pack all my luggage in some poor person's car :/ Have to camp for nearly 3 weeks straight!? Me, camping for 3 weeks..? And 2 of those weeks will be full of crazy children & lots of energy output-ing... eeeeeeep!

I'm scared.

&& I'll have no money during any of this time either.

Coz I won't be working.

I'll have to sell my soul to eat.

Might wait til the guy emails, if it's not going to work out I might bail. 

I don't really want to but it's not entirely practical. 

& I don't know them personally.

I'm sure there are hundreds of other people who volunteer.......

Yeahhhhhhhhh.

ASSIGNMENT UPDATE.

I was up til 2.30am last night doing the damn thing, but it got done.. thin shoebox with corset style ribbon ties, silver embossed logo on the lid, tissue paper with my logo printed on it, as well as the paper cut out with the instructions & my shoe on it.. grahhh took forever.

I'll put a couple of pics up soon. 

We don't get to keep the finished product, Donna keeps it as a memento of us after we leave. 

Which is fine, I guess... +makes face+

eating, drinking, taking Polaroids & generally being happy. OH & how could I forget the ducks!!?

My baby brother :) who, at 6ft 4" is not really a baby, nor any kind of little at all, but i'm 21 months older so ner!

Anyway, he finished year 12 today, they had their muck up day & whatnot, he's out at their end of year party now.

I know he's not my kid or anything but he's my flesh & blood & i'm proud of him for making it through and coming out alive at the other end! Bonus, he turned out aiight. Proud to call him family.

Today has just been full on frustrating work, trying to get my digital folio (website) & my direct mailer (packaging for disc) finished. Just got home from work & I have to do it all now now now. It's due 12noon tomorrow.... im freaking out badddd.

Day 47

ON REFLECTION, THIS MAKES LITTLE SENSE.

BUT IT BEEFS UP THE POST SO IT SHALL STAY.

So sometimes.. I feel kind of immature when I start to question my gifts/talents/passions. 

When I start to wonder about where I'm going. 

When I begin to stress about what I'm going to do with the rest of my life.

Like I should be able to just "take it as it comes" or "go with the flow."

But I don't think I've ever lived like that.. and it's a concious decision..

I figure, life is this journey.. on which I'm trying to do right by Christ, and live for Him. 

That requires certain amounts of thought, right?!

I'm bound to stuff up and do wrong, just as I'm going to have to make tough decisions.. I guess I should stop. That is, stop feeling like I shouldn't think about things. Over-thinking situations is bad, and dwelling on stuff I should just let go is pretty dumb.. but overall.. I think with all the elements in my life that are beginning and ending and changing, i'm allowed a bit of thinking time. Yeah.

TODAY

I got up early, was running late, stayed back at uni to finish my assignment (nothing like a Thursday deadline to motivate you - haha) then got home, walked to the shops from the station, did the grocery shopping with mum, came home, cooked dinner, ate dinner, had half an hour to chill, spoke to Jo, sent some emails, then went to Jam sessions. Paul dropped me home, thanks (Y) now it's bedtime.

I'm so tired.

Uni is getting full on. 

I put in a fair effort today, the way I should most days and should have done all year.

Makes me sad to think that being lazy and unmotivated has come so easily to me?

Looks like the plan for the end of the year will now include a holiday, possibly most likely to QLD with the family!

So I finish Civic in early December, the holiday may be then for about a week, or if not I'll just have a few weeks til Christmas. Then there's another week, New Years, then TRSUFM for 2 weeks down at the Prom, come back, it's January 16th, if the QLD trip hasn't happened already it will happen then.. 

And by then it will be February.

So no point applying for jobs now, seeing as my first month, I'll be unavaliable. 

Scary.

I'll have no income for something like 2 months.

I don't think I'll survive.

I have no savings.

I'm freaking out already.
